Oct. 27th, 2005 10:30 pmOne of the best things about kids is they always seem to have perfect timing when they bring up certain things.
"Daddy, should the bone of my arm stick out of the flesh like that? Do you think it's broken?"
or
"Ummm, Dad, can you take a look at these spots. I'm a little bit worried about them. And they itch. And my legs are swelling, it hurts behind my knees, and my hand feels like a fat lip."
I was getting ready for bed when Justin knocks tentatively on the door - he's had these spot things, which until tonight looked like freckles, beauty spots, or whatever other harmless normal things you might call them (I've had about a dozen or more on my arms for as long as I can remember,) for about a week or so. For the last couple days, he's been starting to catch the cold - and as of last night, he lost his voice and seemed to go downhill.
Now Deb is at the emergency room with him, as rasied red spots, swelling, joint pain, the cold-like symptoms, and discoloring of unspotted flesh are all rather unsettling when they begin to peak all at once.

bellacrow, my google-fu has failed me and I'm unable to find any half decent diagnosis on it to while away the time until I get actual news.

Oct. 27th, 2005 11:16 pmJustin's on an IV, it's a viral infection, "HS" is what Deb got out of them so far. Google-fu still failing me, unless Justin is a salmon or rainbow trout, and then it could be viral hemorrhagic septicemia. Damn you, spammers and paid links - I'm tired, so I'll blame them for skewing the search results from the stuff I actually want to find.
Since I don't have a positive ID on the beastie, I'm not sure what it means for the rest of us, Rachel's school, and my work.
I'm off to bed so at least one of us gets some sleep - they expect to be there for a few hours if not overnight.
