To finish off this set, here's The Mission (or, as they're sometimes legally obligated to call themselves in the US, "The Mission UK") with Swoon (Live), originally from the 1995 album Neverland, although only available (on Amazon.com) as an MP3 in the live performance from Ever After - Live:

Today's tune is Evangeline from 2001's Aura:

I first heard Tower Of Strength as it exists on their 1988 album, Children ~ although a different mix of the tune can also be found on 1990's Grains of Sand (which is arguably my favorite album of theirs).

The mix in the video is another mix altogether. =)

Today's tune, Butterfly On A Wheel, is from The Mission's 1990 album Carved in Sand:

In this clip, we have the two pieces of music featured over the weekend, and a third, On Earth As It Is In Heaven, which brings in the choir.

This music is available on CD as The Mission: Original Soundtrack From The Motion Picture, and, of course, in the movie itself.

There are no shots of the movie at all here, strictly a performance clip. Carlo Romano plays the oboe, and Ennio Morricone conducts the Roma Sinfonietta at the United Nations Headquarters in New York City.

Today's, tune Falls has that breathy South American flute/pan pipe sound, and it's presence is probably the main reason Brad thought to introduce me to The Mission: Original Soundtrack From The Motion Picture.

Unlike yesterday's clip, which includes sound and music in sync, this one features a variety of scenes from throughout The Mission over the music for the Falls scene.

There are definitely spoilers to the film here, and you see more than just Jeremy Irons. Co-star Robert de Niro makes an appearance, as does Liam Neeson, along with other actors beyond the Guarani that are perhaps the bulk of the cast.

This clip is from the movie The Mission, starring Jeremy Irons.

The tune Gabriel's Oboe, as it appears on the The Mission: Original Soundtrack From The Motion Picture, just barely starts up as this clip fades out, but what you do get to see and hear is Irons, as Gabriel, playing the theme on an oboe:

This is one of my favorite movies, and I got there via the music. Brad, who worked with me at Fishman, brought the soundtrack in for me to listen to and it instantly became one of my favorites. If you want to find out more about the it, I wrote up a review of the film in May of last year.
