Yeah, I think that ~ even though the novel is not finished ~ the story I'm writing for an anthology (submission! it hasn't been written yet, let alone accepted!) will take place in the same world as Kryptos.

Which I probably need to re-title, as the gimmicky "write a novel using a music album as title, with chapter titles following the song titles" prompt that gave a start to the whole thing is gimmicky. Also, somebody else's (Andreas Vollenweider's) IP.

Anyway, yeah, a short story in that setting might be pretty cool... and it would provide a good entry into that world.

Wrapping up the set of Vernian Process tunes, here's one that reminds me of a place across the river from where we lived (without the explosions, and, by the time I moved down to PA, let alone across the river from it, closed down...):

The first steampunk music I heard was from Joshua Pfeiffer, under the name Vernian Process. He's now got a band together, but originally it was all him.

And this is a newer mix of what I first heard from him:

Wrapping up the Abney Park set with tomorrow's video today, here's Herr Drosselmyers Doll from Lost Horizons:

Dear Ophelia, from 2005's Death of Tragedy, is performed here live at The Edison... although the band doesn't feature in the visuals ~ the camera stays on aerialist Gypsy Roze:

Today's tune is Sleep Isabella ~ also from 2008's Lost Horizons:

Here we have, well, the title track for the band itself...

Here is Captain Robert and the crew of the Ophelia with Airship Pirate, which, like the other tunes, comes from Lost Horizons:

She is also off 2008's Lost Horizons, and the performance here was also filmed at The Edison in LA... but here the band's performance is accompanied by aerialist Gypsy Roze:

Today's tune is by the steampunk band Abney Park. This performance of This Dark and Twisty Road from 2008's Lost Horizons is from a live performance at The Edison in LA:

... in response to [livejournal.com profile] straif's posting of the heavy metal hurdy gurdy (Eluveitie, performing "Inis Mona")

Although, to be fair, Nightwish is not exactly performing a metal tune... this steampunkish video barely even registers as "rock"... just an excellent tune. Can't believe this video has been out since April and I didn't catch it until today. Now I'm wishing I picked up the album back when it was first released... maybe I'll get it for Kissmas... and, of course, this tune reawakens my own desire to get a set of Uilleann pipes... someday. I love the sound of the drums on this, too...

I know I'm so far behind on reviews I still have to write up ones for the first three Abney Park albums, but I was tempted to post something about the new album when I listened to some samples earlier... then [livejournal.com profile] robert_from_ap went and made it simple and posted the code for the sample player:

Music below the cut... )

One of my favorite Dead Can Dance tunes is a Sinead O' Conner tune, I am Stretched on Your Grave, and they include it on here... I am looking forward to this album release! =)

Today is International Pixel-Stained Technopeasant Day!

For my contribution, I offer up the still-unedited first act of L'Abattoir to a wider audience:

Scene One of piratey-type steampunkity stuff

A link to the following scene will be included at the end of each one!

Enjoy, my fellow technopeasant wretches!
