I heard back from the editor of the anthology I was targeting for Trouble and Captain Jack, and she liked the brief little synopsis I wrote up for the piece, so that's now officially submitted. It's not an acceptance for publication, but the acceptance of a query is still a win, and I'll take it at that!

I wrote 600 words on the green man story, but with all that's been going on, I just didn't put the time to it that I needed to, and it won't happen. While this is a failed deadline, it's my deadline ~ the anthology won't get a submission, but it wasn't expecting one, so I'm only letting me down here.

And now I need to decide what my next target will be...

I expect I'll hold off from seeing what anthologies are coming up, as I need to solidify some other things non-writing-related first. That, and now that I've got my piratey music out of storage and into my music player ~ and seeing it's what I'm taking to the writer's group for critiquing ~ I expect that l'Abattoir is going to get some effort next. Act One made it through the group and is now New and Improved(TM), and I have two scenes left to write in Act Two as well as the entirety of Act Three. Luckily, Act Two is about twice the length of Act One, and twice the word count for pieces to be critiqued, so I can split it and not worry about writing those scenes in time for September's meeting. I expect I'll get them in time for November, especially if I aim for having Act Three (or the first 6k words or so of it!) ready for December!
