Peter Gabriel & Kate Bush - Don't Give Up
Apr. 20th, 2009 07:56 amThe transition between the set of Peter Gabriel tunes and the set of Kate Bush tunes would make much less sense without this one... thankfully, I was able to find another posting of the video...
Ahem.
As the song title states, Don't Give Up
.
The tune is from Peter's groundbreaking, revolutionary, all-things-to-everyone, 1986 album So
. Guess which Peter Gabriel album I thought was highly overrated and more than a little annoying when it came out?
I didn't really listen to his music with an open mind ~ or even open ears ~ until I, kind of simultaneously, became hooked on both Solsbury Hill
and Gabriel's singing on the early Genesis album Nursery Cryme
, and that didn't happen until the mid nineties. Sure, I was kind of entertained by the tune Shock The Monkey
, but other than that I hadn't heard any of his material.
His shift towards embracing and encouraging world music ~ such as can be heard on Passion
, the soundtrack for The Last Temptation of Christ
~ had also impressed me and helped convince me that So might be worth another listen.
Now, I don't even dismiss Sledgehammer
as I once did... =)
