Tribute To A Life Long Past
vi: Oubliette
By Everett A Warren
May 28, 1990
In darkened dungeon walls I place your memory,
The seeds of forgetfullness cast unerringly, in times of sorrow I will recall,
(Knowing that I failed you.)
Is this the way that you'd want me to be?
You have long since fled the world and I remain,
Should it be that the world never feels my touch
(Only the legacy that remains?)
Is this the way that you'd want me to be?
I look back on the past years, years since you were gone.
I am the beast of burden, held by reins from your grave.
Is it wrong to devote my life to one who will never be again,
I should live on, or should I die...
