Iron Maiden - Phantom of the Opera
Mar. 15th, 2009 03:11 pmSometimes the song remains the same and only the name has changed... not in this case! The name, here, is the same, but the songs haven't even met each other in a smokey bar.
This Phantom Of The Opera
is from the band's eponymous debut album Iron Maiden
, and it even has an action figure
:
You get the trademark Steve Harris galloping bass here, you even get the harmony guitars and solos from Dave Murray and Adrian Smith. Baby-faced Clive Burr is on drums and Paul Di'Anno, vocalist for the first two albums, is on the microphone.
There is, I'm sure, a movie behind this song. Steve Harris writes the lion's share of the tunes, especially true early on, and most of his influence seems to come from either classic movies of all genres or from television shows (The Prisoner is a very obvious example of the latter).
