Ayreon - Beneath the Waves
Feb. 18th, 2009 10:31 amAyreon is not truly a band. It is one man, Arjen Anthony Lucassen. It is the musicians, some the same, some different, that he assembles for each project. And it is a host of vocalists ~ from Bruce Dickinson (Iron Maiden) to Fish (Marillion) in past projects.
For this tune, Beneath The Waves
, from last year's 01011001
, only eight out of the seventeen vocalists involved in the project make an appearance.
Each vocalist is playing a different part, ten are the race of Forever, seven play mortal man. This tune features most of the Forever recalling life on their old planet, before they destroyed it and most of the members of their race. In order of appearance, we have Daniel Gildenlöw (Pain of Salvation), Bob Catley (Magnum), Anneke van Giersbergen (Agua de Annique, The Gathering), Floor Jansen (After Forever), Steve Lee (Gotthard), Jørn Lande (Vagabond (with Ronni Le Tekrø from TNT), Yngwie Malmsteen, ARK, Beyond Twilight, Mundanus Imperium, Nikolo Kotzev's Nostradamus, Millennium, Ken Hensley and The Snakes, Masterplan, solo work), Hansi Kürsch (Blind Guardian, Demons & Wizards), and Tom Englund (Evergrey). The two Forevers not appearing in this song are performed by Jonas Renkse (Katatonia) and Magali Luyten (Beautiful Sin, Virus IV).
Although they don't appear in this tune at all, the human beans are performed by Simone Simons (Epica) as Simone, an internet-dating service user; Phideaux Xavier as PX, an internet-dating service user; Wudstik as a 21st century scientist, preparing The Final Experiment; Marjan Welman (Elister & Autumn) as a 21st century scientist, preparing The Final Experiment; Arjen Anthony Lucassen as Mr. L, a mentally ill man in an asylum; Liselotte Hegt (Dial) as the mentally ill man's nurse in the asylum; and Ty Tabor (King's X, Platypus) as an average middle-class worker, with an average family.
