So we didn't win, but we did get some tree down. Although the tree is still standing, and Justin and I are feeling rather challenged in that area... onth again I am tho thor. =)

Yep. We did manage to recover both white ropes and one of the two yellow lines - the saw and other yellow line are still up there.

I suggest one of you learn how to shimmy up a tree, like monkeys do! You could start by standing on the roof of the car!

Aunt Susan has a few trees needing trimmed -- she says you can practice there if you want to!

Too late. The first night probably did a good amount of damage, and it rained all last night, and there's 100% chance of rain today, 70% chance tomorrow.

Hopefully, when we get another saw, the first will be salvagable after an extended oil soak. I've seen some people complain about these saws getting stuck - it's kind of the nature of the beast. Having another alternative to get them down is really the best solution.

The limb the saw's stuck in is only an inch or two in diameter. Maybe 3. It should have broken from the force applied. The limb it's attached to is maybe six inches, probably only four across, and so, even if Brandon could climb 60-70' in the air and even if I would let him, his weight would likely snap the tree before he could free the saw. Which doesn't explain why Justin and I and the Ford couldn't apply enough force to pull it and snap it (this is rhetorical: the reason being the original yellow rope has a breaking strength that's under that weight, particularly when it's been weakened by friction against the tree).
