Be Bop Deluxe - Maid in Heaven
Jan. 11th, 2009 01:15 pmHere we go with another Be Bop Deluxe video, this one of much better sound and video quality (although not completely free of quirks), this one is Maid In Heaven
from the album Futurama
:
I love the muted guitar that Bill punctuates the tune with, not to mention some great guitar work throughout, including, at times, stuff overlapping with his vocal parts. That was the first thing to amaze me with Live! In the Air Age
, I mean maybe I'm the complete opposite of spoiled in this regard, but I'm pretty sure there's some lead vocalists and lead guitarists who are two separate people and can't manage to coordinate some of the stuff he pulls off by himself, playing both parts, live, at the same time. Studio magic, I can understand. Having attempted to play and sing, I can understand when a vocal line and a guitar line tug and exert force on each other and wind up making themselves do something in unison instead of playing their own parts. Sure, there's other guys who play and sing at the same time ~ and plenty of them make sure one or the other of their parts is simplistic enough they don't look like fools ~ but Bill has a way of doing some really intricate stuff without tangling his fingers with his vocal chords. And that sort of thing can get messy in the hands of a lesser artist.
