Yep.

Hermit Sphinx Moth Caterpillar. That's what he is.

Funny thing is, one of the pictures at BugGuide.net, where Rachel and I found him, shows the little booger on a mint plant. And, I noticed when double checking the image, it was taken in the next town over... =)

For the first time ever, Caterpillars of the Eastern Forest failed me... even when we went back with the knowledge of what we were looking for, this guy was just not listed there at all... =(

This looks so unusual! Like an armored slug. Good for storming sand castles and the like.
