Too Sexy For Their Storefront

PopMart - purveyor of the hip, except they probably call it something, well hip - is moving from their location across the street, taking their money from downtown Bethlehem to OooooNewShiny at the Lehigh Valley Mall.

Now, keep in mind, this is the downtown with a shopping district that is nearly dead most of the time and almost completely shutdown around 8pm. It's also the downtown that is offended by a 50's era sign on a drugstore, and decides the 1950's isn't historical enough for their historical district.

Any way short time ago I watched the PopMart staff put up some vinyl letters in the window, and it was surprising even given their propensity to have mannequins wearing street illegal clothes:

EVERY
F*@#ING
THING IN
THE STORE

There's one line missing today. Guess which one?

They told me that the mall location was the one closing (I was in the mall asking at the time) and the downtown was renovating and expanding.

And yes, bethlehem is the town of no nightlife.

Ah. I was relying on the rumors others in the office had heard.

Strange - isn't the mall store pretty new, and, if not, you would think they'd want to stay because there should be a new groupl of mall-goers, what with their "lifestyle" addition. =)

the mall wants to put somebody more expensive in the space they are in there, chasing them out by demanding to renovate the part they are in, and offering a smaller store in the meantime ... at the same price.

rather then move the store a number of times (and I imagine they'd be in the KB toys as it's the only other one open if they accepted) they are just closing it. Daughter of a family friend works in the broad street location.

Well, usually their merchandise tends towards the sexy, this was, I suppose, more of the vulgar.
