So last night was "Meet the Teachers" night at Rachel's middle school.

Deb and I have decided at least two, maybe three, of the teachers look to be young enough to date our son.

I think she's in a bit of shock about that.

I had a similar experience recently. We hosted a family anniversary celebration for my parents -- it was their 50th. A few days before, my nephew's girlfriend called to ask if her parents could come as well. As we were cleaning house the day of the party, Jo and I were talking about the girlfriend's parents and I was struck with a thought. Her parents were likely to be my age. Up 'til then, I'd had this automatic assumption that the girlfriend's parents would be my parents' age. Jo and I had a few moments of numb shock as we were struck, once more, with the reality of our ages.

The guy sitting over the cube wall from me was just mentioning how, growing up, he was best friends with the son of the lady who runs the deli downstairs.

To be technical I expect she's at least a wee bit older than me, but I still consider her to be in my age group. Meanwhile, my co-worker wasn't even alive when I entered high school... =)
