Eden Abandoned

April 3, 2005
foundations shatter and fall
roots, severed, bleed
crumbling to dust
seeds in ashes open
clinging
to the ruins
climbing
to the heavens
patience sees it through
haste fades quickly to nothing at all
desolation, if desired, dominates
words falter and fall
truth bleeds
hope withers
Eden Abandoned
the wise-men flee
the fool tills barren soil
watering with scorn discarded by his betters
and his kingdom, fertile, flowers, flourishing
yet still the wise hold their own charcoal-souls
and ashen arrogance as superior examples
claiming their darkness is light and life itself
as if by so stating it becomes so
and still, they fall
