The band Stream of Passion (on MySpace) had to cancel their UK shows because three band members are from Mexico. Apparently, immigration was afraid they intended to move there instead of just playing a few shows.

Quoth their blog: It appears the Mexicans have fallen unfortunate victims of, as one British Immigration agent trying to help said: "the new British political flavor of the year: 'we hate all immigrants'".

The band centers around Holland, with a US-based lead guitarist, Mexican lead vocalist and keyboardist (and back up vocalist? - not sure about the third.)

This kind of wall-building, small-minded, insular behavior is something I equate with single-celled creatures. Which, I suppose, describes the current administrations of more than one nation.

Damn shame.

And I won't even go into the Idaho dipshit's plan to eradicate wolves from that state - that's just too Medieval (and not in a good swords-and-castles-pseudo-fantasy kind of way) for me to comprehend.

Building walls... wonder how long it's going to take the immigration police to adopt the old Soviet tactic of holding family members ransom to ensure the traveler goes home.

We've got a few 'Idaho dipshits' here in Wisconsin as well. It is/was the real reason to insist the feds retain control of wolf populations rather than it devolving to individual states. In addition to "the wolves are scary, let's kill them", there's a heavy contingent of "omg the cougars are back, let's kill them before they kill us or our cows". Sad really.

Apparently many of today's citizens do not understand what Balance of Nature means. Wonder why the cougars have increased? Could it have anything to do with the amount of wolves? Or the surge in hoofed wild creatures? I've read meese and the like are expanding again -- wild goats too. in the Northeast, black bears are on the increase. Maybe -- and this is just a random wild thought (TIC)-- maybe each state could build a wall around itself thereby keeping everthing as close to not changing as possible...er, I meant safe, keeping safe. yeah, that's it. AAARRRRGGGGHHHH I think I'll sit myself down and cry!

For us, I think it's the increase in Meals on Hooves responsible for the actual boost in numbers of big cats. Building houses where they shouldn't be built has a lot to do with the 'oh noes' factor.

At least the state DNR is relatively sane, they're administering a no-fault fund to compensate loss of hunting dogs, dairy cows, etc. and telling people to leave the critters alone and they'll leave you alone.

This is not a simple problem is it? So many points pro and con. Could the problem be that humans expect too much? Man, my head is aching going around in circles, agreeing/disagreeing with all sides of this issue. Guess that's because I want balance in an unbalanced world. I believe I used "Balance of Nature" in my first comment. But the more I think on it, the more I see that "balance" depends on one's perspective.

What do you think is a good solution (resolution?) to the problem.
