The power just went out.

Hey, kids, I'm going to plug in our new sooper-dooper brighter-than-thou holiday light display... here goes... BZAP.

Or, at least, that's my best guess as to what happened. I did verify that it wasn't just us, and it wasn't (most likely) the chipmunk/mouse/whatever that had been nibbling around in one of the walls five minutes earlier. It was off for long enough for Rachel to remember she had a flashlight in her "sick bag" she had just packed herself and was carrying around; long enough for us to use the flashlight to light one candle for the table, poke my head outside and see absolutely no light source anywhere, and then run up for my flashlights. When I went to go swap rechargeable batteries on the one, the power came back.

Mr. B. is finally sent off to bed, and now Justin, Rachel, and I will wrap Deb's presents. Tomorrow we'll put up our small, subtle display of mostly low-key mellow blue lights (with one wild n' crazy multi-color string! =) Maybe set the tree up, although we probably won't decorate until next weekend.

Then... bed. /me tired.

Mr. Griswold short-circuited things - or at least that's my best guess, for I am not he.

We put our lights up Sunday, and that went without a hitch.

ahh i misunderstood your post. I thought it was *you* that plugged in their light display and everything went poof.
