Book #5: The Seventh Tower book 5: Into Battle by Garth Nix
Book #6: The Seventh Tower book 6: The Violet Keystone by Garth Nix

As you can see, these two flowed into one another - I couldn't help myself, and read them both last night - perhaps the most enjoyable three hours I've spent on the series thus far.

Although somewhat predictable (or at least, somewhat in line with the predictions I developed whilst reading book 1 of the series sometime last year), it didn't mess around with too much needless noodling, and got right down to the business at hand, which was, of course, war, and the final battle with the Big Bad GuyTM. Said BBGTM, in what also has proven to be a somewhat typical fashion goes through phases, like in a video game boss battle. You beat him once, and then he changes, and you have to go somewhere else to beat him again. Still and all, it was fun for what it was.

It seems both a series ender and - should the author wish it - merely a beginning. It's not that there are a lot of dangling story threads, it's just that some things could easily become such if they were investigated further. There was no attempt made - and none needed - to explain away Life, the Universe, and Everything, so there's plenty of material to go on with in the future. At the same time, if it is left as is, it is still complete.
