you dream of me
as i am
so i become
i, created
in the image
of your imagination

a wraith of shadows
and rainbows
to stand amongst men
and blind them
by my darkness
or by my light

you tremble
as if i
touched you
ever so slightly
cowering 'neath the gaze
you ascribe to me

and in your heart
and your soul
my dominion
is complete
and so i reign
under your tyrant rule

ascension
from pawn
as thou shalt crown me king
ever rueful i am
of the mind
behind the hand

you fear me as your slave
and forget me as your fiction
so to shadows
and to rainbows
i shall return
to wander free
