Wow, you people really did some damage to yesterday's Monday's Thirteen!

All four Single Quotes were nailed, and one each from the Double and Triple Quotes were answered - not once, but twice each! Some movies are so quotable it's hard to pick something challenging, on others I seem to have leaned a bit too far towards the obscure.

Don't forget the hints for last week's Wednesday's Little Helper:

One of the actors who delivered one of the lines also said, in an entirely different movie, "You're going to need a bigger boat." De Niro didn't voice any of the quotes, but he was in one of the movies. One of the actors, in a different movie, shot first no matter what they say. One of the characters was never more dangerous than when they were dead. One of the actors made their name as a musician before they lended their voice to the part. One of the characters could squeeze through tight situations quite easily.

One hint each for what are now the Triple Quotes. These need to be cleared out, so go and guess 'em!

And I thought some of you out there watched movies... =)

the sentinels
by Everett A Warren
May 19, 1999

like pillars
they stand
against the backdrop
of dreams
singing in tones arranged in infinite arrays
harmonies
peaceful - painful
dissonances
too beautiful to remember
upon waking

so easily do they lose
their cyclopean stature
amidst the images cascading
from recesses of the dreamer's mind
that few will see them
and less recall
and fewer still will admit the sight

for some they are but a nightmare
on the verge of pleasantries
or making pale their fondest horror
for they move to mathematics unknown to man
and they are amongst the few
to fathom the heart of the dreamer

it is said that they bear no bribe
and that those who thwart them dream no more
but for this i can only wonder
for they stand astride the steps of Deepest Slumber
a basalt stair well worn
not by my feet alone
i speak no prayer
nor dreams to draw their notice
and thus i pass unhindered

and when i sleep but lightly
and dream but little shallow vignettes
i sense their knowing and their being
glowing dancing dreaming
and i sense their souls and mine
are one

When I die...

1. What would you like to have happen to your body after you die?
-I'd like one of those stereotypical unrealistic Viking funerals - build a full sized longship, stick my body on it, push it out to sea, and pepper it with fiery arrows. Yep. Nothing extensive. =)

2. If possible, do you want your organs donated? (Why or why not?)
-Definitely. There's a little girl - who I expect is about three years older than me - with my brothers eyes. Literally. This is a good thing, if it can be done. I'd have no further use for them.

3. Have you thought of what you would want your funeral to be like? (details?)
-Thought I covered that in #1. Outside of that, I covered it, kind of, at the end of #2 - I wouldn't be there, so it's not for me. As I have no interest in the matter, I don't see why I should dictate it. Yeah, I can see this cutting short the meme a wee bit.

4. If you were to die today, who would you want to give your eulogy?
-See the second half of #3 - it's not really for me, is it?

5. Which (if any) song(s) would you like played at your funeral?
-I can't hear them, but I'd hope folks would listen to stuff I like. Maybe talk about the different bands or composers or so on. Maybe go home with a listening list. =)

But, really, that's not for me to decide. I won't be there, see, so I won't feel bad if a favorite tune isn't played.

6. Do you want people to wear black at your funeral?
-Nope. Purple, head to toe. I insist. Oh, and see the second half of #3.

7. How do you feel about untraditional disposal of the body? (having your ashes turned into diamonds, donating your body to exhibits such as Body World, etc.?) Are there any you would consider?
-My way is quite traditional. It's been used in movies about Vikings since the dawn of cinema.

8. Do you want an open casket?
-Longship. An open longship. Didn't you read #1?

9. Would you want the ceremony to be religious?
-Well, other than the bits involving Odin and various other Norse gods, not at all. Read #3 again, please.

10. Anything else you would like to say?
-Sure. Lots. More poetry and fiction would be nice, as well as a lot of good, bad, and ugly posts from now until as long as possible. And so on.
