Discussion around the cube farm this morning involved Australia and water and drains and other things I heard at a distance... but I figured Snopes would have something to say about it, but they didn't, at least, not directly. They did link over to this article from the Guardian UK. Why did it make it here? Hey, it's not everyday you run across your hometown mentioned as the location where an urban legend was dismantled, by a person who is quite possibly related to your childhood best friend.

Had the MRI this morning - very strange experience sliding in to that itty-bitty little space, with a noise like "jackhammers going off next to your ears." A bit more tuneful than that, or toneful, anyway, but yeah, it did the jackhammer thing more than once over the course of an hour. Slight break while I was rolled out, given an IV of something to make the pictures prettier, and then back in for the last fifteen minutes or so. Got to listen to piped-in music - but I tend not to listen to the radio much, so I specified "classical", and wound up with Hawk 99.9 classic rock which was worked well enough. I suppose the guy saw the long hair and heard "al" as "rock." They do sound similar, I guess.

Exercised this morning - did all of the matwork, none of the standing stuff except the two qigong forms, and the running/footwork aerobic portion was right out. Next week. Baby steps, baby steps.

Started charting blood pressure - first thing in the morning, after exercise, and before bed - along with weight, number of times I have to hit the rescue inhaler a day, and a 1-10 relative score of breathing (1 being Tuesday morning, 7 being the high point of the week.) I had the breathing numbers in my head since Tuesday, but didn't start recording the other bits until last night. Curiously enough, I lost four pounds from weigh-in last night before bed to weigh-in first thing this morning. I can see this scale is so accurate it will make it a breeze to keep the weight loss to the 1-2 pound range. Oh, another note on weight: the doctor's scale thinks I'm about 10 pounds slimmer than the home scale.
