This book didn't quite capture me as much as its predecessor, or, to the detriment of this review, as much as Hetley's Dragon's Eye (read two books later, but prior to writing all this down.)

I wasn't all that happy with Brian and Maureen's bouts of weakness. Yes, a character who is always perfect all the time is more annoying, but one who always seems to be behind the eight ball despite being a pool hall sharpshooter does irritate. That said, the way David and the dragon play out their parts in the story are excellent - they work their strengths and weaknesses and deal with them.

I'm expecting Brian and Maureen will make up for their lack in the next volume, and I look forward to reading it.

I noticed that - on my flist there was another in between, but I almost went over and looked at your list to see if that happened again. It did when I reviewed The Summer Country.

Be interesting to see if it happens again with Dragon's Eye, which I'll write up as soon as I get through the handful in between! =)
