Mar. 15th, 2006 08:54 amI have a very productive cough.
How productive is it, you ask? Why, not only did it manage to wring every last bit of icky, sticky stuff from my bronchial passages by late evening yesterday, but it has been attempting (for the last several days) to get rid of all that other excess icky, sticky stuff - often referred to as "organs" by those who quite obviously have neither seen nor heard a half-way decent pipe organ, because no matter how you polish them up, they don't look near as pretty, and, well, the less said about their sound the better. Anyway, my cough has yet to realize that it's not needed, job is done, contract cancelled, and all that. Kind of like that guy in Office Space, it's sticking around even if it's not getting a paycheck. And it's doing more harm than good. The good news, however, is that the asthma medications are now having some aeffect.
Last night, I actually managed a two hour coughless stretch - not once, but twice! My previous record of one hour was matched repeatedly for the remaining time - I think I only managed to get there once before on Mon-Tue. Everything else for the glorious 4 day weekend is pretty much a haze of coughing, lying down, sitting up to cough some more, drink some water, and repeat; with a handful of rest stops along the way.
Thanks to the patented S'not Good For You diet, I've lost 6 pounds. I did actually eat properly on the first two days - although I can't recall what, except for one snack of tostadas loaded down with Frontera Chipotle salsa. In the past two days I had a handful of pretzels, a delicious apple, 79% of a slice of toast, and a cheeseburger. I'm thinking about eating something later - doesn't really matter what, I'm mostly tasteless (although some might argue that as a pre-existing condition.)
