"More than cleverness we need kindness and gentleness."

So clever, we may think ourselves, that we strive to out-think our opponents, and perhaps we out-think ourselves. Spiraling down, out of control, in loops and whorls of thought, setting our own boundaries at times because we are unwilling to admit where our flaws may be; for, of course, we are Right.

I have said before that "The Difference between an uncommon Hero and a common Human, Is that the Human tries to be a Hero, whilst the Hero simply tries to be Humane."7 We are too tied up in our own cleverness, our striving, our reaching, and our wanting that we forget to just be.

After all, we are Mankind, we are the Ultimate Machine... yes? no?

And all the while, as we strive to create AI, we misunderstand what is at the heart of the matter – the trees escape us, and the forest is just a blur. Perhaps it is our own intelligence that is artificial.

"Without these qualities, life will be violent and all will be lost."

Raise your hand if you feel that the second half of that statement has come to pass... certainly, after perusing the average newspaper or television news show that might come to mind as an accurate summary.

To reinforce a frame of reference, mentioned earlier, I will now unequivocally state that the piece that is being fragmented and quoted and discussed throughout this work was created in 1940.
