Still, a month or so down the line, the interior design shop that moved in downstairs seems to be basking in the glory of their main desk, which is finished in that most admirable style, Late 20th Century Plywood. Although I had expected them to do at least some manner of other, well, interior design, on it's great - and, through the glass doors, quite noticeable - expanse, they have done nothing except add a subtle grey border around the top foot or so.
This, of course, clashes greatly with the African Trophy Room/Dark Den look they seem to be going for the display section in the area to the front and right of the main desk.
Go figure.

Lots of posts lately, both here and - for once - in other folk's journals. If I haven't gotten around to posting comments witty or inane all over your posts, rest assured it's because I'm at work and not bright enough to remember to go back and comment once I'm at home. I'm trying to get back to a fairly regular schedule on Pieces of Me, and also to get some of my writing - such as Possibilities and The Ecology of a Scope Creep posted for your enjoyment. Next week, after the conclusion of the Creeps, expect a bit of fiction, and then an essay that some of you have already read - but as I always seem to want to refer to it, it needs to be somewhere, well, referable.
As always, if anyone would like to reprint any story, poem, or whatnot somewhere else, please ask - I'm not actively seeking publication (beyond sharing here,) but I'm certainly not hiding from it. I do like to hear what you think of my work, so feel free to comment on what you like, and even what you don't.

A bit late, as always - yeah, one of these days I'll remember to give notice a week in advance - but I will be reading at the Moravian Book Shop (Bethlehem, PA) tonight, 7-8pm. Only one new poem, and it's already been posted here, so no surprises - I may print out an entry or two from here to read, or go with some older poems that I have yet to present at the Poetry Circle. Or maybe I'll go with a "greatest hits" format, so who knows?

Ear is still progressing; bit stuffed this morning, but obviously so, and hearing is still making a comeback.

On the whole cartoon and terrorism issue: I recall, in the introduction to a book of cartoons, that a wiseguy and admirable man stated that "A culture that can laugh at itself is a healthy culture." Or something quite like that, but either way, there you have it, in a nutshell.
This, of course, clashes greatly with the African Trophy Room/Dark Den look they seem to be going for the display section in the area to the front and right of the main desk.

totally agree about the cartoon thing. That was one of my first reactions. I understand that it's a religious issue but it isnt like the lampooning of western culture, american culture, other religions etc doesnt go on around the world, including in Islamic newspapers...no one else is torching buildings and rioting over it
