Still tying up loose ends, like trying to figure out how much, if any, of Kodak I still own, and that sort of thing.
My brother and I went into MIT and cleared my dad's personal stuff out. Lori was very apologetic, but apparently my dad's boss has decided that the toolbox filled with my dad's own personal tools had to stay for him to review because the toolbox was decommissioned MIT property, which was, in his opinion, still MIT property. We gifted Lori with one of the LED clocks my dad made back in the 70's or 80's - she was very helpful with everything, and it's at least some compensation for having to sort through the tens of thousands of keys we had/found/might yet discover and left in her possession.
Left ear is still stuffed up - infection itself may or may not be gone, but pain has stopped. Yeah, after feeling lousy Thursday and Friday morning, I went to sleep Friday night expecting to be nearly 100% Saturday, and getting better right up until Monday and the service. Turns out my ear had different plans, and launched a coup sometime between 3am and 4am Saturday morning. Thus, it was with complete surprise that I woke up shortly after four (lots of water to fight a cold/sore throat + diuretic meds for blood pressure make for hourly wakeups) and could no longer hear out of my left ear. To be fair, I didn't really notice that I couldn't hear until after I recognized the dagger-stabbing of my ear drum by a bunch of microscopic bugs. They had fireworks to celebrate, and I could hear those. Within the next hour, and for most of Saturday, the ear drained, popped, fizzed, and sometimes sounded like a cruise along a static-filled radio dial. That and earjuice (and/or brains - too early to tell!) was constantly being pumped out, maybe to make a water park for the little bug kids. And I expect my eardrum now has more perforations than a, erm, really perforated thing.
The antibiotics have quieted things down a bit, but the stuffiness and lack of hearing still remain. I expect I'll need another course of stronger stuff when I get back home next week.
