All of our planting for the season is now done!
We put 8 Eastern Hemlock, 6 Norway Spruce, 2 Silver Maple, 2 Forsythia, a Dawn Redwood, an American Holly, a Bald Cypress, and a Red Maple in the ground today. Some rain, but warm! I was out in a t-shirt most of the time. Had to take a break mid-way through the Hemlocks as the lightning started hitting a bit close to home.
Now I get to turn my focus on turning the unfinished (i.e. no walls, insulation, electrical, etc.) room above the garage into a bedroom for my eldest son - the baby will get his old room. I really hope they open up the Lowes down the street - it's 45 minutes to the nearest one, and 45 minutes to the nearest Home Despot.
Made up a Chopin Liszt for December (all quantities are pure RCC and/or SWAGs) that covers the initial lumber for the room as well as materials for a few other minor projects:
4 sheets 3/4” Plywood (recalculate quantity)
40 2x4's (recalculate quantity)
8 rolls R? insulation (see Jeff for recommendation)
2 rolls R? insulation (see Jeff for recommendation)
17 pairs drapery wall mounts
17 drapery rods
17 pairs drapery finals
17 sets heavy drapes
4 pressure treated or redwood posts – 2x4 minimum
2 bags concrete mix(recalculate quantity) (come up with a non-alkaline substitute!)
6 pressure treated or redwood 2x4's (recalculate quantity)
galvanized screws
carpenter's glue (see Jeff for recommendation)
framing screws/nails (see Jeff for recommendation)
1 pressure treated 6x6 OR 24 bricks (recalculate quantity)
2 basement window screens
