Hide Behind the Sun

March 19, 2006
He looks up from his little world
and still sees what he wants to see
for what else on Earth could there be?
She wanders within herself
and finds all her hopes and fears
for what else would be floundering in her tears?
She wants it to all go away,
He can’t see it anyway…
So blind that they can not see
When they run and hide they are not free;
We think we have the key
and secrets are ours alone
for have we not reaped what we have sown?
They think they have the key
and hold righteous wrath
for do they not walk the only path?
They think we stray,
We know it’s the only way…
So blind, neither one can see
When strife and war come out to play no one is free;
Better to hide behind the sun
than to face the light of a brighter day;
Better to turn and run
then to try to see things another way;
Might as well hide behind the sun.
