Today's tune is off of Dalbello's 1995 album
whore.
Since I don't have a link to spiff this up, instead I'll stuff it with trivia:
Tommy Lee (Motley Crue) was one of two drummers on this album (if he's on this track, he is playing exceptionally more restrained than I'm used to hearing him).
Lisa has written or co-written songs for Heart, Julian Lennon, Nena, Patti LaBelle, and has co-written tunes with Bryan Adams, Chaka Khan, and Branford Marsalis (amongst others).
If you watch the
Sailor Moon TV series, you've heard her voice coming out of the mouth of multiple characters.
She's appeared as a guest artist, singing lead vocals on a track from Rush guitarist Alex Lifeson's solo album and performing duets with Duran Duran's John Taylor and Boz Scaggs. She's also performed on albums by Cher, Heart, Alice Cooper, Patti LaBelle, Tota, Nena, Richard Marx, and Glass Tiger.
In addition to the Queensryche cover of
Gonna Get Close to You, her tunes have been covered by Heart, Hauteville, Heaven's Gate, and Helix (apparently bands alphabetically listed under "H" like her stuff). Melissa Manchester and Julie Masse also covered her tunes, adding a couple of M's (although Julie is Mrs. Corey "Sunglasses at Night" Hart, so there is an "H" connection there...)
Anyway, if none of these bits of trivia have your interest and you still haven't checked out any of Lisa's stuff from the last couple days, you should give this a listen if you enjoy listening to powerful female vocals that roam around in the realm of rock and soul with a touch of prog (or, at least, eccentricity) ~ artists such as Kate Bush or Annie Lennox come to mind.
