Picked up the last four bags of mulch. Rachel and I moved a three-part sweet fern from the bank to the island in Stone Stream. That area should start looking much nicer, with the hosta, birch, and iris there, and a few winterberry holly getting added in next year. We moved about 20 sweet birch (up to 3-4' tall) from alongside the wall next to the garage door to... well, elsewhere. The English yew (Taxus bacatta fastigata) was moved from the corner in front of the porch to alongside the cleared area - it will get tall, and eventually would have blocked off the view from the porch, and should also be happier with a bit of shade. We put down three bags of mulch there, saving the last for the ArborDay.org order & membership trees (both of which should be arriving within a month or so.) Mowed the front lawn (i.e. shredded the six inch layer of leaves with the mower.) Despite the kids best efforts, and the gallons of acorns collected, the section between Chestnut Grove and the sand mound has enough acorns that it is difficult to walk on.
