Trick or treating tonight - all of Rachel's school festivities were planned for today as well, but they were cancelled and changed to Friday due to expected rain.
T or T'ng on Wed? --- 4 days before Halloween? --- Can the kids go again on the RIGHT FRIGHT NIGHT? I mean, why bother at all? Unnnnlesss the powers that decide strange things want 2 holidays for frightening citizens instead of one. Or maybe it's a corporate candy plot? Was the amt of NRG & $$ expended less 4 days early than on the rightful day? Was it safer? How so? What is the reasoning behind this change from the All Hallow's Eve to an arbitrary not frought with tradition change? Sounds specious to me. As a kid, I'd have been annoyed and wont to go out BOTH eves; as a wise old crone, I am disenheartened by the lack of respect for traditon; as a politically active citizen, I decry the government's usurpation of --- well, if something that must fit in here! Finally: GADZOOKS!
Umm... just the one night... although other neighborhoods are out on different nights... and - get this - the city of Easton is actually trick or treating on Halloween! How frickin' novel! Imagine that!
Not that I'm still ticked off about missing it last year, or missing it the first year I was down here. That first year I felt like Linus, waiting around by myself, wondering where the hell all the kids were. They had gone door to door the Friday before, and I was home late and missed them. Had to eat all that candy by myself!
