The top story this week is Mad Max. I wrote 300 words on it, mostly outlines of past history, and I shelved it. It's being set aside from consideration for the anthology on account of it wanting to be much more than the 10k word limit. I think I might try to keep it to a decent novella length work, but the silly thing might end up insisting on being a novel. Don't that beat all.
The anthology isn't out of consideration, though. The briefly codenamed "wild max", now officially titled Trouble and Captain Jack, came into existence, telling a bit of Maxie's past, particularly, how she met the love of her life, Jack. Thus, this story is the priority, and, in addition to those 300 words that went to the shared history of the characters, I wrote 7,300 words over the past few days, and I figure I'm close to wrapping things up. Maybe. These characters are great, and I could probably take another 7,300 words to do the job, but I want to wrap it up a bit sooner rather than later, and come in under the 10k limit.
Ghost Dance made it through editing, so I need to get that ready for submission. It will be going in along with Of the Leaves and of the Waves and Never Ever After, which are still in editing. I have a bunch of markets in mind for Empress Awakened, I just have to select who gets it first and get it out the door.
