Seven Nations performed at lunch today - I'm not sure if I've seen them before, which probably doesn't bode well for them.

They were good - bass, drums, guitar, fiddle, and bagpipes - they just weren't exceptional, although that might have been due to having such an early performance. Apparently, they had just rolled out of bed, and the 5:00pm show today is supposed to be better, according to them.

If I still had to walk through the fest grounds to get home, I would stop by and check them out again. With a 45 minute+ commute, though, I usually want to head home as soon as I get out of here.

Walking around the fest - and stopping here and there to listen to varied performers in almost every different musical genre (celtic & polka always seem the most dominant, however) - was probably my favorite activity whilst living in Bethlehem. Locals always complain of the crowds; I love it - reminds me of Harvard Square on a busy day, except without as many book stores, record stores, and etcetera.

Seven Nations is actually pretty successful. They're from the Carolina area, where I used to live. I've seen them twice, both times as the opening band for a better group, so I've always thought of them as okay, but certainly not great. Others I know love them.

They did better on the traditional instrumental set but the more rock based stuff just seemed to lack some oomph.

Vocals were mostly lost in the mix, which didn't help.

Speaking of which, I saw the founder of Godfrey Danials performing at the Blueberry Festival a few weeks ago...
