Kennel Explodes

Speaking of animal cruelty, a while ago I posted about the gothic kitten lady an hour or so north of here, then there was the parrot lady less than an hour east of here, some kennels getting in trouble all around here, and a pet store in town where the owner abandoned all the reptiles (and possibly some other animals).

Now, unfortunately, there's another event, even closer to home, but unlike the others, it wasn't purposeful.

A kennel burned down after the propane tank that was being filled exploded. The propane truck driver and several rescuers were injured, and 16 dogs have died, some boarders, others show dogs.

We did not hear or feel the explosion, although Rachel, who was outside at the time, heard the sirens.

Aw, crap. All the dogs I saw were chows. (My beloved Jet is a black lab-chow mix.)

There were other dogs boarding there, but the chows were her specialty.

Martha Stewart bought two chows from her.

Man, that just makes me feel so bad. (Not the Martha Stewart bit. Just the dogs. I'm one of those bleeding hearts that goes for the animals and kids, because they're less able to understand and be able to help themselves.)
