I had, thinking myself humorous, claimed the trip would only take two hours (it's five at best), so the Road decided to gain revenge, and turned it into a glorious eight hours, much of which was spent rolling along at a brisk mile an hour pace along the New York Thruway. For the last half hour prior to the New Baltimore service area we were provided with the soundtrack of a screaming baby, who woke when the driver of an eighteen wheeler decided to learn how to downshift from a coast to a stop.
Anyway, cookout up first, then later this afternoon a quest for fish n' chips. Brothers' Pizza (Belmont) would have been a priority, but my parents imported a number of pizzas when they came down to pick up Rachel last week. I'll be stopping off at Mimi's Roast Beef on Main Street in Watertown, and then we'll zip over to Chicken Express on Moody Street so Deb can get some Nuclear strength hot wings. We'll probably go sit by Norumbega, the Viking tower over in Waltham (which memorializes where one rich guy insisted the Vikings made their camp after sailing their longships up the Charles River, which is nice to pretend, even if not backed by historical fact.)
Tomorrow... another 330 or so miles of Road...
