Sitting back on the porch
sipping cool ice tea
working the old fashioned way:
watching Justin clip the grass
trimming around foundation, trees, and stream;
watching Rachel collect the leaves
exposing the rocks that give Stone Stream its name;
watching Brandon making goats obsolete –
grabbing grass and leaves by the handful and munching away;
Sitting back on the porch
writing simple words,
mentally preparing myself
to helm the lawn mower
and wield the string trimmer;
but for now the hard work:
sipping cool ice tea
and watching the children
doing the yard work!
