Sub-Tropical Ice Fishing
Feb. 13th, 2008 01:56 pmFollowing up, in a way, on my recent post about ice fishing in the lakes region of NH - where ice thickness is currently in the double digits in many places.
12" thick ice tends to wax and wane on a fairly slow basis, mostly.
The ice here in the subtropical region of Eastern PA is quite a bit thinner.
Like here one day, gone the next, and back the day after.
Unfortunately, things don't look good for a local man with 50 years of ice fishing experience.
There's a picture of some of his gear on the ice, and a broken bit nearby. Hell, they're able to take a rowboat out on the ice, you know it can't be all that thick or that just won't work.
Very unfortunate. =(
