Book #17: A Series of Unfortunate Events book 2: The Reptile Room by Lemony Snicket

Well, then... finished this one in only two sittings, whilst waiting for the Poetry Circle at the Moravian Book Shop to start - and I was worried that I would forget where I had left off, as there were two months I wasn't able to make it between the first time and last night. No worries, though. I picked it up and it as if it had been minutes since I had set it down.

I know some have said that the first few books are weak and they get better, but maybe I'm just too positive (I remember, once, a friend who is a Jehovah's Witness getting frustrated with me for "finding good in everything"), but I've been having a blast with these first two, and, indeed, started into the third.

I was wondering how things would progress - knowing, of course, that each book is going to have an "unfortunate" ending, as Olaf gets away once again - and I was afraid things would stagnate quickly. The orphans, however, learned from their mistakes, and even the poor banker seemed to make *some* progression.

At some point, I have to get these books, as both of the older kids would definitely enjoy them. I'm sure the youngest would find them tasty as well, accompanying his meal with a Sunnyesque comment or three.
