Bridges

When a certain bridge fell down quite recently, I mentioned that sort of thing is not in the category of complete surprise, as I think about that sort of thing happening on quite a few bridges.

There's one in particular that, over the last four years, I've spent many an hour sitting motionless between eighteen wheelers and other traffic, studying the road surface, and pondering exactly how I would get out of a situation should one end or the other of the particular slab I was on start to tilt.

That kind of stuff, of course, is considered silly nonsense, because bridges don't just fall down. After all, on a scale of 0 to 100 with 100 being the best, that particular bridge rated a whopping 29.1. The good news is, because it passed with flying colors, they don't have to look at it again for two years.

There's no other way to work? Then please send a letter to the proper officials holding them morally responsible for any problems, damage, destruction of said bridges unless they have actively sought ways to imrove the situation. cc it to the Morning Call and your state rep.

If the local citizenry do not publicly protest, it would seem that they give tacit approval to those whose decisions put all bridge users in danger.

Oh, that bridge isn't involved on the trip to and from work. It's between here and Lehighton. Of course, I've been avoiding it when I can by going through the fine City of Weissport (which, in contrast to what the article says, doesn't exist on one bank of the bridge - it exists, in its entirety, under the bridge). I just tend to go that way more often than I used to, which was most of the time.

Still, you should protest --it's the principle!

Dan went thru O-K-L-A-H-O-M-A (sing it out, you know you want to! (hahahaahahah!) and should be in El Paso tonight. I had lunch with Sandy is how I know. Wed night was so rainy D & J had to go to a motel, but they got over the Mississippi River, no trouble.

I bought a digital Nikon but have yet to take it out of the box-- I've had lots to tend to: car registration inspecetion, oil & filter changes, tire rotation, Ins. company appraisal, auto-body appt to make and tax worry straightened out...and I DID IT without a nervous breakdown, not even a tic.

This week coming, I'll get caught up on office work (shredding, filing etc) and organizing the slr camera photos for reprints to send out and then be able to concentrate on camera.

Oh Maria Fruit-Loops sent me some beautiful pix from when D & boys were there. The one of J has a brief comment: "Great Smile!" She's lucky his grimace didn't crack the lens!!! Bbut it's still a great photo.

Aunt Stella (all in real seriousness) is searching for waht it is she's supposed to do with her life. She knows there's something she hhas to do before she dies! Man, she is just a special lady. Even if she tells me to find out m y own purpose of life!!!

Hope your week-end is busy busy busy with good stuff getting Greenman Enviroscaping in order!

love, Mum
