Nearly-Last-Minute Reminder

Cookout on Sunday!

My house is much easier to get to this year, now that they've replaced the carved, unlighted, unreflective, blend-in-to-the-woods Vlad Tepes-style crucifixion posts with real, actual signposts, as seen in populated areas all over the US.

I'll be cooking up hamburgers and hot dogs and other such Labor Day-cookout-type-things; other people are bringing desserts, salads, and vegetable trays.

We've pulled a couple of these off in the pouring rain, so if that happens (and we're looking at a 30-50% chance at this time, depending on which part of the same page of forecasting you glance at) it's no big deal.

Sounds wonderful, sadly I'll have to take a rain check unless a worm hole opens up in the back yard.

What, no Lear jet? Helicopter? Catapault and parachute? =)

As for worms, we're seeing more and more, they're helping turn the stuff the developer left in place of our real soil into usable dirt. That, and some kid in this area (several towns and/or counties away) has enough worms in his yard to keep a business running for a half dozen or so years - made the news, because they decided at 15, it was no longer kids stuff, and they made him take his sign down.

I'm about 35 miles away, and that's using a few roads where bikes aren't allowed.

The only way I can think of without going on a bike-excluded route, and without adding another 20-30 miles, is over Blue Mountain, by the ski area (which is why I haven't biked into work.. yet! =)

I noticed some real street signs when I came up last month. Of course, by now I know longer care about them, having figured out where to turn without having visible signs.
