Date: 2006-08-09 10:59 pm (UTC)On another note. The chances of hitting a mattress, chester drawer, tire, lawn chair, heck even a lawn mower are pretty damned good in that area. What are the chances, even if you drove 24 hours a day, seven days a week your entire lifespan without stopping in Texas, what are your chances of running over a real live penguin? Winning the lottery twice is probably more likely.
This has made me so sad

Date: 2006-08-10 02:25 pm (UTC)When I posted, I hadn't read the article, but it's not nearly as lighthearted an ending as I had thought. I had skimmed the tagline with the "twenty one penguins rescued" and the whole wandering around on the roads of Texas, which is easy to make light of - later when I actually read it, it just wasn't quite as funny.
On the positive side, even though four died, twenty-one survived - so it could have been far worse.
