Food and Writing
Jun. 10th, 2006 03:57 pmMaybe it's coincidence, maybe it's heightened awareness through an increased interest in cooking, or maybe its from reading of the restaurant drama in
docbrite's Liquor books... but I noticed both this and that both on the front page of yesterday's paper.

At the Poetry Circle the other night, the title Full Moon Poetry came into my head, and, oddly enough, it said it belonged to a short story, and not a poem. Sure enough, after I got home and typed that in, a story appeared shortly thereafter. Unless I suddenly change my mind, this short story won't appear here - not yet anyway. I'm going to get a bit of feedback on it and then start shipping it out to market.
This story worked a wee bit differently than others, what with its title coming first instead of after, but even more it was a pre-meditated event. The others came in a flash - a dream, or a day dream - this one was designed from the outset to be an urban fantasy piece, and to be written that night with an intent to be seek publication. Usually I tend to wait around for a particular inspiration to hit; this one was planned and schemed (not the contents, just that a short story would be written.)
