Marty Friedman - Tibet

Marty Friedman first rose to some prominence ~ amongst guitar players, primarily ~ with a solo album and with Cacophany, a group effort with Jason Becker, both released on Shrapnel Records. He definitely reached a wider audience during his time with Megadeth.

Now, one wouldn't really expect a guitarist with a band named "Cacophany" or "Megadeth" to work with New Age Music pioneer Kitaro, but that would really be because one thinks of heavy metal guitarists along a very limited stereotypical line.
