I know I missed a birthday or two the past week while I was at our Client Conference.

[livejournal.com profile] tewok was in there somewhere, and I remember seening somebody else's name on the upcoming birthday list, somewhere around the 18th or 19th... unfortunately I rely on that device to help remind me of what's coming up, but names disappear off that once the days are done...

Anywho...

Happy Birthday to everyone I may have missed!

Many happy returns of the day to you all!

Busy weekend... Deb is going to see Jeffrey Gaines on Saturday night, while I'll be taking the kids to CelticFest on Saturday and HawkFest on Sunday...

For the Celtic Classic, we'll be there around 2 or so (after Rachel's soccer game!) and should get to see the end of the piping competition, maybe the caber toss, the border collie exhibition, as well as some combination of the following: Beolach, Blackwater, Craobh Rua, Enter the Haggis, Grenwich Meantime, Kilen Thyme, Searson, Tannahill Weavers, and a number of others. One we won't miss is Seamus Kennedy. Any advice on the rest?

Passion, Grace, & Fire by John McLaughlin, Al Di Meola, and Paco De Lucia

Just so I don't discriminate against those who really don't like flamenco singing and would really like to hear great guitar playing...

John takes the center channel with a Yamaha classical flamenco-type guitar, gut-strung. Al is on the left channel with an Ovation 6-string acoustic guitar with steel strings. Paco is on the right channel with a Spanish flamenco guitar, gut-strung.

The title actually does an excellent job as a thorough review. This might not be for easy listening or background music - there's a bit too much 6 string pyrotechnics for that. It should, however, be in every guitarists collection.

Beautiful, intricate guitar work.

I might have found a mention of Peter Obid's father.

An Obadiah Warren was captured by the British during the American Revolution, and registered into the prison fleet on the Jersey, at what would become the Brooklyn Naval Yard.

Details here

Of course, it doesn't provide any other information - no identifying information beyond the name - but it might explain why he was noticably absent from the 1790 census. True, an Obadiah Warren appeared in NC, but I've got no information that puts any of the ancestral line anywhere but Michigan, New York, or Massachusetts.

EDIT: More breakthroughs. Real, usablefulTM ones. A bunch of things over on RootsWeb that have ancestors and/or descendents of Obed Warren and Mercy/Mary Blood. The descendents are from either Obed Jr. or Celestia, and most only list one or the other. One, however, has both of them. And Roxy. And - here's the good part - Peter. Not Peter Obid. No birthdates, deathdates, places, or anything else. But... it seems to reinforce the evidence - or lack thereof - regarding Obed[iah] Warrens during the late 1700's in the 13 colonies.
