Although the grass is still greener on the other side (as always), it appears the straw and regular watering has done the trick, and lo! there is grass clawing its way up through the straw where previously none had been!

Next August I will wash-rinse-repeat, with more seed and straw and water, if there are any more bare spots to vanquish.

I've discovered that the Selfheal (or All-Heal - it appears that 'Selfheal' is used more often, so I'm going with that) Rachel found growing in our lawn will create an evergreen mat that likes things moist, and it is something that is better kept out of your lawns. I will be moving both clumps - one to the roadside, to help fill that area in, and the other to the Flood Plain, for more of the same.

Cookout!
We're having another cookout - this one on Sunday, September 4 - lots of food, conversation, and tree tours! Send me an e-mail (ellyssian at gmail dot com) if you plan on coming!
