Microclimates 'r' Us
In the time I took in the shower this morning (yes, it was a little long, but hey, the water was hot and I wasn't about to step out into the cold air as long as I could help it!), the ground went from green/brown to solid white. Woke Deb up as I stepped out of the bathroom and saw white-out conditions in the air as well.

Debated what to do - if I had the laptop back, it would be a no-brainer: work-from-home - and decided I would try to get into work, requesting a call if it accumulated more than an inch.

By the time I went from Forest to Fairyland, the snow had slowed, and after coming up out of the woodlands into the farmlands, it had become a nice, light dusting. A few miles later, it barely even snaked along the roads.

Interesting how we always seem to get snow, rain, and fog in higher volumes than the surrounding areas. Possible lake effect? There are a handful of lakes nearby, although not quite adjacent, and there are mountains (okay, hills, really, but for some reason they are not named thusly) on the other side.

Well Water
160 feet of well, and still it clouds after a storm. I had to flush the well for two hours yesterday. Handling an allegedly flexible garden hose in below-freezing temperatures is not fun, especially at 7am. Water cleared up so we could use it, but was showing sediment by EOD. Will probably have to flush it again tonight, yay. Especially with more snowfall. Seems the snow sits on aforementioned mountains, then melts, and not only runs along the front edge of our property in a very scenic stream (which relocated portions of our driveway and distributed it to various neighbors) but also gets underground and stirs things up a bit.
