Yesterday, we went to see my sister-in-law sing. Although they did do one little bit from Handel's Messiah (and not the obvious one, either), I would have preferred more of a classical mix - a few years ago, we saw them at Lehigh University, and they performed more Bach, Beethoven, and that sort. This performance was more of a service, and with much more contemporary hymn-type stuff, which ain't my thing. That, and their percussionist hit the rims during drum fills - didn't come close to matching the quality of their voices.

Physically Fit!
Or at least two days closer... finally am at the point where I can start working out again, even though the asthma has been kicking in more. Don't really expect I'll be able to get the blood pressure down to non-medicinal manageable levels like I did ten years ago, but that's still my goal. We had planned to start this morning, but decided on a starting session yesterday morning, to alleviate any potential soreness from our Kiwi wrangling efforts on Saturday.

I'm getting my eldest son out of bed at 5am, so we can get a half hour in every morning. Scary thing is, even with my health issues, he is more out of shape then I am! We're going to use M-W-F for the core workout, and T-Th for mixing in various disciplines - starting with Jeet Kune Do, and eventually Yoga and Qi Gong.

When I moved down to PA about 8 years ago, I was probably in the best shape I've ever been in - I took advantage of the gym membership (knowing I'd lose the last month of it, and with much extra time as wife and son were already in PA), I was training JKD with a co-worker, doing yoga, and biking or running every day. Then I come down here and - after a time where I had to bike or walk 5 miles to work - I became sedentary. Damn pirogies!

Anywho, realized some extra benefits already: the workout wakes me up more thoroughly, and that in turn means a speedier time to get ready and out the door *and* no medicine-induced drowsiness on the ride in! Much coolness!
