Finally heard news that a friend from the User Friendly boardsnolawitch is ok (and found out she's on LJ, or was and will be once she has access again, to boot!)
The following folks are still hanging in there, and providing useful information - much more useful than any news sources I've seen:
interdictor has been posting very informative bits and pieces throughout
alobar can't post directly, but has a friend collecting and relaying information on evacuation
