Me: Why are you picking on your sister?
Mr. B: 'Cause I like picking on my sister, and she's my sister, got it daddy? Am I clear yet? I'm serious! Got it?

Not quite the thing to be amused about, non?

Horrible as this may sound, I hope you told him off for this.

I realise it sounds cute, but this type of disrespect to an other person, related or not, should not be encouraged.

Sorry to sound so old fashioned....

At this point, yes, quite amusing. If there were real, actual picking-on involved, then it would become less amusing. If anything, whatever event caused this - which had his older sister laughing as she walked by, before I made the above comment and he responded - the least amusing thing is the toddler's experimentation with who is in charge, and that's something we are working on with him.

No, this was not a telling-off offense. He was close to disrespect for a person in authority - me - but the picking on was not really picking on. And you can check with anyone else who's visited us with kids - Deb and I are tyrants of the old fashioned vein when it comes to most things regarding child raising, at least in comparison with most parents we've come across.

While all three experiment - or have experimented - at the toddler-stage, even then they are mostly well-behaved, and generally by the time they are six or so they are considered acceptable almost-adult-quality company for some of the anti-child folks we know.

Mr. B still has two and a half years before he gets to that point. 10.5 year old Rachel considers the behavior of her classmates - and some teachers and her principal - as childish and annoying, and, because they should know better, at a lower level than where Mr. B is at! =)

Heh, in that case, I was missing the context, sorry.

On that note, my daughter may be coming out to our wedding. She's 27 now.

No problem - context gets missed a lot online, especially when there's no back-story.

Part of Mr. B's entertainment value comes from him imitating my wife and bossing everyone around. Of course, it's funny only to a point, and it quickly becomes a "no, you're the kid, I'm the adult." His usual response after that is to say something about Deb being in charge of me. =)
