Almost everyone seems to recognize Here I Go Again... or, at the least, have fond memories of Tawny Kitean's acrobatics in the video from the song's release on 1987's Whitesnake.

What many do not seem to realize is that the song is from 1982's Saints & Sinners, and it appears there in a much more bluesy, bare-bones, Kitaenless version, where David's not a drifter, rather a hobo... one word is changed and the entire character of the tune is changed.

Well, in this clip from Starkers in Tokyo (DVD), he doesn't revert back to his original hobo self ~ '87's drifter is retained ~ but with only David and Adrian, the overall feel of the song is much closer to the original (the MP3 linked under the song title above is the original performance, and you can listen to a sample of it there):

and the rain falls down
By Everett A Warren

and the rain falls down
again
it has that tendency
you know
bit clumsy
all in all
trips on a cloud
and down it comes
tears washing down
if it scrapes its knee
maybe whimpering a little
its eyes misty
if it can cushion the blow
angry and cursing
a temper tantrum
when it lands flat
on its face

for all that
it picks itself up again
brushes off the dust
and wanders off whistling

and the rain falls down

again
